The sisters of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation founded by Venerable Mother Veronica of the Passion in 1868 aim at educating children and youth to grow into dynamic and competent persons, with deep faith in God, equipped with competencies for leadership, life and service to society.
Overview
The Congregation, the pioneers in education, since its foundation in India in 1870, has been in the forefront of education for over a century and has a vast chain of institutions all over India and Abroad.
St. Joseph’s High School, located in Bannimantap, Mysore has a rich history.
The Apostolic Carmel Congregation, founded by Venerable Mother Veronica of the Passion in 1968 in Bayonne, France, established its presence in Mangalore in 1870 at St. Ann’s Campus. The primary focus was on the comprehensive development of Indian women through a solid Catholic education, fostering deep faith in God and themselves.
The visionary Mother Theodosia, then Superior General, envisioned the need for a school in Mysore, leading to the establishment of St. Joseph’s Primary in 1970 with 12 students. The Permanent Recognition for grade 1 to VII in St.
Joseph’s Higher Primary School English Medium Mysore was granted in 1977- 1978.
Responding to the repeated requests from the people, the Apostolic Carmel embraced the challenge, and in 1989 – 1990 St. Joseph’s High School was founded with 58 students, obtaining Permanent Recognition for grade VIll to X in 1992 -1993. The inaugural SSLC batch (1991-92) took their Board Examination through St. Matthias High School.
Today, St. Joseph’s High School stands as a prestigious institution and a preferred State Board School in the city, known for its quality education, discipline, and dedicated staff. Currently, 1500 students, ranging from grade I to X, benefit from the digital system of education that fosters interest and vitality in learning. Boys are accommodated up to Grade 5.
